The thousands of thoughts that we have every day influence every area of our life. If we want to live happy, healthy lives, we must learn to be mindful of our thoughts. Learning to be mindful of what we consume daily is a critical skill to practice regularly in a world full of distractions. Feeding your mind daily with new ideas and strategies that challenge your thinking is one of the most effective ways to shift your mindset.
THE VIRTUAL MASTERMIND WORLD SUMMIT
The Virtual Mastermind World Summit was a spectacular event that left me inspired and excited to take action. The event also opened my mind and heart to new ways of thinking. I left the event with powerful mindset shifts that I’m learning to embrace and apply in my daily life and new business. Here are five impactful lines from the Virtual Mastermind World Summit that challenged my thinking and inspired me to take action. I hope these ideas resonate with you in some way and inspire you to action as well.
“WHEN YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING, YOU DON’T TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT ON YOUR OWN; LEARN FROM OTHERS.” – DEAN GRAZIOSI
The Mastermind World Summit was the blueprint for how to start and be successful in the self-education industry. The knowledge industry is all about people sharing their expertise, skill, or experience to help others shorten the learning curve and get to solutions faster. Graziosi calls people in the industry “bridge builders.” People in the industry are helping build a bridge from where someone is to where they want to go. When most people have a problem, they are more inclined to learning through trial and error. But when you learn from someone who has already done what you are trying to figure out, you can get to a solution or see results much quicker. For example, instead of thinking, “how will I start a business while working my 9-5 job?” The right question would be, “who has successfully started a business while working a 9-5 job? Do they have resources to show me how to do the same?”
Adopting this mindset will save you time and energy while also reducing the overwhelm that might arise when learning something new. I’ve invested in several courses in the past that has helped me learn new skills and advance my knowledge in a specific area. I also take advantage of many of the free content that is out there. Here are some of my go-to websites and platforms for learning new skills and gaining new knowledge.
“YOUR STORY IS WHAT LETS HUMANITY KNOW YOU’RE JUST LIKE THEM. IT’S WHAT LETS HUMANITY KNOW THAT YOU ARE PERFECTLY FIT TO SERVE.” – LISA NICHOLS
When Lisa Nichols spoke these words at the summit, I felt like she was talking directly to me. Limiting beliefs and feelings of imposter syndrome stop us from going for so many opportunities, and it’s an awful feeling. For example, starting a business has been a big goal of mine. But, throughout the journey, I’ve had feelings of imposter syndrome, which is entirely normal. However, I constantly remind myself that my story makes me unique and that no one has my experiences or perception of the world. We are all unique, and we all have a message to share that can help others.
Sharing your story also builds connection and trust with others. As I learn more about the power of sharing stories, I’m becoming more comfortable with sharing mine. I encourage everyone to share their stories because you never know who you will impact and inspire. I learned so much from the summit, but the personal stories that the speakers told to accompany each lesson, idea, or insight are what I remember most. After hearing their stories, not only did their points resonate with me on a deeper level, but I also felt their humanity and sincerity as they spoke.
“WHENEVER YOU ARE IN A STATE WHERE YOU WANT SOMETHING, WHILE YOU ARE IN THAT STATE DO SOMETHING THAT WILL COMMIT YOU TO FOLLOW THROUGH.” – TONY ROBBINS
Learning new ideas, strategies, and concepts from some of the greatest minds on the planet is exciting and inspiring. However, events like The World Summit are not meant only to leave people excited and inspired. They are also filled with actionable takeaways that you should apply to your life. This skill can be a struggle to master, but it will dramatically change everything. Admittedly I still struggle with implementing and taking action on ideas that I learn right away, but what helps is being consciously aware of the behavior.
Tony Robbins often quotes his original mentor Jim Rohn. Jim Rohn famously said, “if you let learning lead to knowledge, you become a fool.” It’s so imperative to implement what you learn. As I’ve become more aware of my tendency to procrastinate on taking action, I’ve come up with some ways to make sure that I regularly take action on the content I learn.
THREE WAYS I ENGAGE WITH WHAT I LEARN
- When I’m reading or listening to a book, I write down questions that I can answer for reflection. Doing this helps me understand concepts better.
- I use the notes app on my phone or my project management tool to jot down actionable steps from what I’m learning Making notes like this in a place where I visit often keeps important tasks at the front of my mind.
- I also love sharing with others about what I’m learning. Sharing what you learn will increase your understanding and mastery of a subject.
“LIVING THE EASY WAY NOW GIVES YOU A HARDER LIFE DOWN THE ROAD. LIVING THE HARD WAY NOW IS GOING TO GIVE YOU AN EASIER LIFE DOWN THE ROAD.” – DEAN GRAZIOSI**
Every accomplishment requires some hard work and sacrifice. Every highly successful person had to go through difficult situations and make incredible sacrifices to get to where they are today. I love the way James Clear, author of Atomic Habits, further explains this idea in his book.
“With our bad habits, the immediate outcome usually feels good, but the ultimate outcome feels bad. With good habits, the immediate action is unenjoyable, but the ultimate outcome feels good. At some point, success in any field requires you to ignore an immediate reward in favor of a delayed one.”
For example, deciding to binge Netflix instead of making time for personal development or self-care may feel good at the moment. However, over time if you indulge the former too much, the consequences will be devastating in the future. Another example could be your health. Choosing to eat healthily and exercise now may not always feel good at the moment, but the results of your healthy choices can mean fewer health problems as you get older.
Living the hard way is a daily decision that most people don’t choose. That’s why few are successful, and the majority aren’t. I’ve learned to implement a couple of practices, which helps to make the hard choices a little easier.
THREE STEPS TO SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS
- Come up with a vision – if you have a clear vision of where you want to go, then making the sacrifices to get there becomes a little easier. Sacrifices are never easy. But, if you know what you want and are determined to get it, making the necessary sacrifices in the present will be easier when you have a clear vision of the future reward.
- Come up with reasons – when you have a clear vision of what you want, now it’s time to come up with the reasons for why you want it. One common habit of highly successful people is that they know their “why.” Coming up with solid reasons for why you want something will give you the strength to carry on when you feel like giving up.
- Plan – When you are taking uncomfortable action, it’s essential to plan ahead of time to ensure that you will do what you set out to do. Crafting out some plan ahead of time can increase the likelihood that you will follow through. For example, if you plan to work out, but it’s not something you do regularly, plan out the time, place, and duration you want to work out for beforehand.
“FIND A WAY TO ADD MORE VALUE. GIVE THE VALUE PEOPLE WANT. IF YOU ARE ADDING MORE VALUE, THEN YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE AS A GIVER, NOT A TAKER.” – TONY ROBBINS
One common attribute of highly successful people and happy people, in general, is that they give immense value. Adding value to people’s lives through the work you do is meaningful and rewarding. The first virtual event by Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi that I attended was The Own Your Future Challenge. The challenge was full of value as well. Robbins and Graziosi are two of the best in their industry because they consistently over-deliver value to their audience. In addition, they inspire others to do the same as they grow their audience and businesses. Their passion for serving others is admirable and inspiring.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The Mastermind World Summit was full of incredible value and inspiration. The ideas I shared in this article are just some of the lines that truly resonated with me. They are life-changing lessons that I’m currently applying to my own life and business. I hope that you found these lessons valuable and take action to apply them to your life.
